The Florida Department of Environmental Protection will host the fourth and fifth meetings of the Blue-Green Algae Task Force in Naples at Florida Gulf Coast University on Tuesday, Sept. 24, and Wednesday, Sept, 25, 2019.
The focus of the task force is to support funding and restoration initiatives, such as prioritizing solutions and making recommendations to expedite nutrient reductions in Lake Okeechobee and the downstream estuaries.
Due to Hurricane Dorian, the fourth meeting was rescheduled to Sept. 24. This meeting will cover public health and stormwater regulations as planned. The following day, the fifth meeting will focus on discussing the task force’s recommendations. Both agendas will be available on the Task Force website.
