Series of meetings set on Central Everglades Planning Project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will be holding a series of public meetings to discuss the draft report for the Central Everglades Planning Project and give interested individuals, groups and agencies an opportunity to comment and ask questions.

Four meetings will be held throughout South Florida on Sept. 16-19. Each meeting will host an open house from 6:30 - 7 p.m., followed by formal presentations and public comments from 7- 9 p.m.

The Draft Integrated Project Implementation Report and Environmental Impact Statement for the Central Everglades Planning Project is available online at: http://bit.ly/CEPP_DPIR.

Public comments on the draft report will be accepted through Oct. 15, 2013.

The goal of the Central Everglades Planning Project is to capture water lost to tide and re-direct the water flow south to restore the central and southern Everglades ecosystem and Florida Bay. The Corps is jointly conducting this planning effort with the South Florida Water Management District.
