SFWMD names Marks as new director

The South Florida Water Management District Governing Board named Ernie Marks as their new executive director, effective Wednesday, Aug. 2.
Marks takes over from Pete Antonacci, who served two years as executive director before moving to Enterprise Florida.
Marks joined the district in 2016 as director of Everglades policy and coordination, a position in charge of the effort to restore Florida's Everglades. From 2014 to 2016, he served as the South Region director for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, overseeing that agency's operations from Okeechobee County to the Florida Keys.
Prior to that, he served for a decade at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, advancing to become the director of the agency's statewide Office of Ecosystem Projects.
