The Gulf of Mexico Alliance, in collaboration with the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium, is seeking proposals for the Coastal Community Projects Small Grants. The funds are available on a competitive basis to eligible coastal communities who wish to proactively address their vulnerabilities to coastal hazards.

The grants assist Gulf of Mexico coastal communities to enhance their overall resilience to future coastal hazards. Interested communities should submit a proposal detailing their resilience needs and how these funds would help address them.

Local governments, municipalities, tribes and regional councils/commissions within Florida’s 23 counties along the Gulf of Mexico are eligible to apply.

A total of three projects will be funded in Florida and will receive additional technical and financial assistance from the GOMA Community Resilience and Habitat Resources Priority Issue Teams during the duration of the project. Grant recipients are eligible for up to $45,000 and are required to provide at least 50-percent matching funds, which may be cash or in-kind.

Grant applications are accepted in electronic format only and must be received no later than 5 p.m. EST on Dec. 9, 2016. For more information, contact staff in the GOMA office at (228) 215-1247 or the Florida Coastal Office at (850) 245-2094.
